"Live Art Rebound is a fusion of performance and live visual art as part of the Lost and Found Exhibition - a collection of works by Amos Duggan, Shelley Krycer, Benk and Antony Kraus and curated by Josie Feingold. Visual artists will team up with a range of performers to jam and feed off each other's creativity to come up with new work before your eyes!" As most of my work in Lost + Found is digital collage work, I decided to stay with this medium for Live Rebound. My approach to creating work live was to first take photos at the event. I had my computer set up so I could import and manipulate the images into a Digital Collage poster. I then printed it onto four A4 pages, taped it together and stuck it up on the wall. "LOST+FOUND; An exhibition of work by four Melbourne-based artists making use of found images and materials. Amos Duggan, Antony Kraus, Benk and Shelley Krycer will be exhibiting paintings, paste ups, sculptures and digital collages. Kraus' installations evoke a distopic nostalgia of the displaced familiar. Duggan fuses human, animal and environment to produce new realities; new symbols to substitute those found in our impersonal, profit-focused mass-culture. Krycers’ long limbed figures and delicate geometric compositions address moments of found and re-found connection with the intangible and the self. Benk invites viewers to get lost in his digital collages that work against the expected, creating vivid and often humorous imagery. Working with images and materials that have had a prior life, these artists create works that have an embedded history, rich in nuance and seductively playful." More info: Library Artspace blogpost
'Lost + Found' was an exhibition at The Library Artspace with the work of Amos Duggan, Antony Kraus, Benk and Shelley Krycer. Curated by Josie Feingold. March 14 - April 5 2012. 'I Rmixx U' was an online project I ran where I asked who wanted a profile picture made for them. I went through the Facebook photos of those who responded. With a selection of photos I remixed their online presence into a single image. The project is my own reinvention of the concept of a portrait.
Exhibited in the group show 'Carbon Co Dependance'
curated by Al Ouchtomsky at Platform Public Contemporary Art Spaces. Degraves Street Subway, Melbourne Victoria Australia. November 5th-26th 2010. A poster I designed for the event Karaoke Dokey.
For effect, I printed a lot of the unfinished imagery, wet it to let it run then rescanned it back in. |
